Player guide

Your odds in every pack, and all the rules of the game

906,348 cards of films, series, people and characters, in six rarities. Here is what you need to know to play, numbers included: the ones on this page are the ones the game uses, refreshed every hour.

Is Movie TCG free?

Yes, completely. No purchases, no subscription, no ads: you earn tickets by playing, they can’t be bought.

How do I start?

Open a pack without an account: 5 cards drawn from real cinema, yours to keep when you create your account. When you sign up, 10 packs are waiting for you; a new one arrives every 10 minutes, up to 10 in your pack reserve.

What’s in a pack?

The standard pack: 5 cards, free, taken from your pack reserve, with at least one Uncommon or better.

The premium booster: 10 cards for 150 tickets, no Common, with at least one Rare or better. Up to 3 a day, reset at midnight Paris time, one every 4 hours.

A free premium booster (daily missions, referrals, sharing, the Golden Booster, Expeditions) joins your saved boosters, with no limit, and doesn’t count towards these limits: open them whenever you like, one at a time or up to 25 at once. The Statuette, for its part, makes one purchase a week free.

What are the odds of each rarity?

Every card in a pack is drawn with these odds, the same for every player. Your relics and your talent tree improve them: the Open page shows yours, card by card.

The chance of each rarity, for every card in a pack
RarityStandard packPremium booster
Common69.6%none
Uncommon20%60%

Super rare2.5%1 in 409%≈ 1 in 11
Ultra rare0.8%1 in 1252.6%≈ 1 in 38
Legendary0.1%1 in 1,0000.4%1 in 250

And a safety net: after 49 packs in a row without a Super rare or better, the next one contains one (19 for a premium booster).

How is a card’s rarity decided?

By fame. Every film, series, person or character is ranked among those of its type: the best-known 0.05% are Legendary; up to 0.5%, Ultra rare; up to 3%, Super rare; up to 10%, Rare; up to 30%, Uncommon; all the others, Common. A card keeps its rarity forever.

On every card, ATK · Fame says how well known the work or the person is: that’s what makes the rarity. DEF · Rating says what audiences think of it, whatever the rarity: a Common can excel at it.

What is a shiny card?

The shiny version of a card: the same card, with its own pattern. 1 card in 1,000 comes out shiny, whatever its rarity, from a pack or from the forge. A relic, The Projector, makes it more frequent.

How does the forge work?

3 spare cards become a new one, free of charge. 3 cards of the same rarity, from Rare up, give another card of that rarity; 3 Commons, 3 Uncommons or mixed rarities give a card drawn as in a standard pack. The new card can come out shiny, and the forge has its secrets, found only by the most curious.

How do I earn tickets?

By claiming your achievements (10 to 1,000 tickets each), completing daily missions, scrapping a spare card (from 1 ticket for a Common to 100 for a Legendary, ×4 for a shiny) and selling at auction. You spend them on premium boosters, on unlocking talent tree nodes and on bids.

How do the market and auctions work?

Put a card up for auction for 10 minutes to 24 hours; up to 5 sales at a time. Each bid beats the previous one by at least 10% (one ticket minimum), and a bid in the last minute pushes the end back by as much. The seller gets the price minus a 5% fee (one ticket minimum), which is destroyed: that’s what keeps prices from spiralling.

A card’s market value is the median price of its sales over the last 90 days, from 3 sales: what it’s really worth, with no made-up number.

How do I trade cards?

Offer up to 3 cards for 3 cards from another player, or to everyone: no tickets change hands. Send a counter-offer, negotiate by message. An offer lasts 3 days, with up to 5 open offers at a time. Your “Looking for” list finds the players who have the card you’re missing.

What do achievements and daily missions give?

626 achievements: sagas, genres, eras, rarities, collection, market… Each one you claim gives tickets and 1 talent point. Every day, 5 missions, renewed at midnight Paris time: complete them all for a free premium booster and 50 tickets.

What is the talent tree for?

To improve your odds and your earnings. It opens at 50 claimed achievements; each achievement gives you 1 talent point, and 1 point plus 10 tickets unlock a node. Pick a career: The Producer (packs), The Auctioneer (auctions), The Distributor (premium boosters) or The Editor (forge). Switching a node off gives its point back, not its 10 tickets.

What are relics?

Five permanent rewards, one every 50 claimed achievements, at no cost:

  • The Clapperboard (50 achievements). A pack comes back to your reserve 1 minute sooner.
  • The Film Reel (100 achievements). Your reserve holds 1 more pack.
  • The Projector (150 achievements). Shiny cards come out more often: 1 in 800 instead of 1 in 1,000.
  • The Red Seat (200 achievements). After a run of packs with no Super rare, the game guarantees you one: it arrives 8% sooner.
  • The Statuette (250 achievements). A free premium booster every week.

And at 300 achievements, The Red Carpet, for accounts at least 30 days old. A shiny Legendary, drawn at random, joins your collection as soon as your account is 30 days old.
